3 Steps on Putting Wall Posters at Home
Posters are not only school projects – but these can also be used to refresh your home! Whether framed or unframed, posters are affordable and easy-to-install home decors you can put on your walls. You can make your own if you are creative enough, or buy some pieces in home décor stores in your area.
But before you put posters on the walls, you should know how to do them right. And nope, taping them on the walls may not be your best choice. There are also ways to do so without the need to drill just to put that poster on the wall. Which leaves us with a question: How should you put wall posters at home?
How to put wall posters at home
These tips will serve as a guide to hang wall posters the right way. For unframed posters, you can use removable mounting tape, Magic Tape, or poster glue dots. For framed posters, use sturdy removable hanging hooks or frame hangers. Here are other tips on putting your posters as home wall décor.
Prepare the poster.
Get ready with the poster that you want to put on your wall. Make sure to do it with clean hands, the printed side is facing up, and the surface is clean as well. Use a weighted object such as a book or candle to prevent the poster corners from furling. Again, make sure that the weighted object is clean. This step is necessary if the poster is made from paper or any soft material. Otherwise, you don’t have to do this step.
Decide where to put the poster.
You can put the poster anywhere you want. But take note that your poster would likely fade faster if you place it near direct sunlight. If you are using adhesive tape to stick the poster on the wall, make sure not to do it in a recently painted spot or a rough area of the wall.
Decide how you are going to stick the poster.
There are different ways to put your poster on the wall. You can use removable adhesives or use something to hang on instead of sticking it to the wall. Although the standard clear tape is the cheapest option out there, you could risk peeling off the wall paint along with the poster. If you don’t want that, better opt for adhesives specially made for easy removal.
Speaking of adhesives (whether removable tape or mounting hooks), make sure to follow these tips in case there is a sticky residue left on it.
- Mix hot water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a spray bottle and spray on the remaining residue. Leave for a few minutes before wiping it using a soft sponge.
- Mix equal parts of warm water and white or cider vinegar in a spray bottle then spray on the sticky residue. Leave for a few minutes before wiping away the residue using a soft sponge.
- You can also use a commercial adhesive remover to get rid of the adhesive residue. Make sure that the product you have purchased is paint-friendly.
