Hygge - Stay Cozy, My Friends

Hygge - Stay Cozy, My Friends

What does Hygge mean anyway?!
Hygge (pronounced HOO-GAH) is the Danish concept of coziness spent with life's simple pleasures (food, drinks, a nice fire, blankets, candles, whatever makes you cozy!)

Below are a few selections of items we carry that will help you Hygge in style!

The first step of Hygge is keeping warm! We are madly in love with the lightweight, Cozy Chic Lite ribbed throws from Barefoot Dreams. It truly feels like you are snuggling up with a cloud!

Warm up by the fire with a mug filled with homemade hot cocoa (recipe below) or your favourite tea! This mug features Nashville's skyline!

Set the mood with this Vanilla Orchid and Almond candle made by Nest - it's a new scent for us and we are obsessed! We are partial to Nest candles because the vessel can be used as a chic toothbrush or makeup brush holder in its next life.

Last, but certainly not least - curl up by the fire with your favourite book that you just bought at Bound Booksellers - I suggest The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn!

Enjoy this cozy and delicious Vanilla Mocha Hot Cocoa recipe from Half Baked Harvest

* 4 1/2 cups whole milk (or nut milk)
* 1/3 cup real maple syrup
* 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
* 6 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
* 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
* 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder
* 1 pinch flaky salt
* whipped cream, for serving
* grated nutmeg or cinnamon (optional)

Add the milk, maple syrup, cocoa powder, chocolate, vanilla, coffee powder, and pinch of salt to a large pot. Place the pot over medium low heat until the milk is scalding, but not boiling. Be sure to stir the pot often to make sure nothing is sticking to the bottom and burning. Pour and serve!

(This recipe can also be made in a Crock Pot by putting the ingredients in and cooking on the low setting for 2 hours!)

Top with whipped cream and savor every sip!

Keep calm and Hygge on!
Thank you so much for reading and for supporting your local shops!
